Not One More vs QuitNow

Updated 6 September 2026

The short version

What QuitNow does

QuitNow is one of the longest-running apps in the category. Its App Store description tells its own story: born in 2011, made by a smoker who wanted to quit, grown since then with addiction specialists brought in and tools refined. It tracks your quit, shows your health improving against a timeline, and has a community where people quitting can talk to each other, which for many users is the feature that matters.

It is rated 4.69 from 13,568 US ratings as of 6 September 2026, free to download, and updated in the last month. Fifteen years of people quitting with it is the strongest argument for it.

What Not One More does

Not One More is an iPhone app for getting through one nicotine craving, whether from a vape, a pouch or a cigarette, in about two minutes: guided breathing, then ten squats or a thirty-second hold counted by the phone’s motion sensor, then watching the craving curve fall. Then one question, still want it, answered honestly.

The headline number is cravings beaten. It only goes up. A slip is logged in one tap and never resets anything. There is no community, no sharing, and exactly one notification ever. It works entirely offline, and your history stays on your phone.

It is new, iPhone only, and has no ratings yet. Free for three days, then a subscription, with the price shown in the app before you confirm.

The real difference: other people

QuitNow’s community is a real strength. Quitting is lonely, the bad days are lonelier, and knowing that other people are on day three too has kept a great many quits alive. If that is what you need, it is a good reason to choose QuitNow.

Not One More has no community and will not get one. The bet is different: that the moment of a craving is private, that it usually happens somewhere you cannot post, and that what you need in it is not other people but something to do for two minutes. The app is built for the person standing outside a meeting, in a suit, who wants no one to know.

Both bets are reasonable. They are for different people, and sometimes for the same person on different days.

The other difference: the counter

QuitNow, like most apps in the category, leads with progress since your last cigarette. Not One More leads with cravings beaten, because one cigarette sets a day counter to zero and watching it zero is the moment many people delete the app. A cravings-beaten count cannot be zeroed. If a reset has ended a quit attempt for you before, that is the case for the other number.

Questions

Is QuitNow free?

It is free to download. Not One More is free for three days, covering everything, and a subscription after that with the price shown in the app before you confirm.

Does QuitNow work for vaping or pouches?

QuitNow is built around tobacco and cigarettes. Not One More was built for vaping, pouches and cigarettes from the start, with the units and money in your terms.

Does Not One More have a community?

No, and it will not. The app is deliberately private: no sharing, no feed, no account required, and your history stays on your phone. If community is what you need, QuitNow is the better fit.

Can I use either with nicotine replacement?

Yes. Neither app is nicotine replacement and neither replaces it. If a pharmacist recommended patches, gum or lozenges, keep using them with either app.
